The growth of next generation technologies such as AI/ML, robotics and IoT will catapult the automotive industry into a future of many technological developments. Electric cars, autonomous driving, information and communication technologies, clean cars and intelligent transport, which were imaginary concepts only a few decades ago, are now a reality and are increasingly used worldwide. This paradigm shift requires more safety, environmental, traffic and other regulations, which in turn requires advanced in-car camera capabilities to capture this huge amount of data generated every second with millimetre accuracy. Korean start-up ROIIVE is actively developing core technologies and applications for on-board cameras to provide robust security features and data analysis for autonomous vehicles.

ROIIVE – provides high technology products for the autonomous automotive industry

Car cameras are mainly used to assist in manoeuvring, parking and evaluating vehicle performance. These camera systems therefore play an important role, especially in the market for individual drives. ROIIVE was founded in 2019 to commercialise and market advanced cameras for the development of detection and evaluation systems for autonomous driving. The base product is equipped with a CMOS image sensor and a solid-state image signal processor, which is an essential part of the camera application. ROIIVE technology has the potential to improve the performance and quality of automotive cameras needed for the future of autonomous driving.

The main features of ROIIVE automotive cameras are the need for ISP (image processing) installation and the use of HDR and LFM technologies, improved video quality, software adapted to the driving conditions at the installation site of the vehicle, compact size for mounting and an optical lens with minimal reflection of night light, a UVC (USB Video Class) compatible user interface, an algorithm for detecting pedestrians and vehicles, lanes, traffic lights and road signs, as well as recording and marking of driving video data.

ROIIVE Vision and expansion plans

ROIIVE products are offered in three main business sectors: multi-channel camera for ADAS and vision system for stand-alone vehicles, camera kit for integrated vision systems and machine vision camera for intelligent factory processes. Although the first ROIIVE product will not be officially launched until 2019, the start-up already has 20 years of experience with this technology.

Market launch of the included camera sensor modules for the pilot project C-ITS (Cooperative-Intelligent Transport Systems). It has won an annual turnover of 800 million, developed a camera for export to Japan and delivered chips under license. ROIIVE is currently working on a strategic partnership with a developer of an autonomous driving platform and is installing and demonstrating the products being developed in vehicles.

ROIIVE will soon launch other products and expand its services via the online shop. The goal of this launch is to change the future of in-car cameras with a better video and data conversion system.
